Omnia, a leading company in South Africa’s chemical industry, is hiring General Assistants to join its technical field team.

This role involves tasks related to housekeeping, maintenance, and quality control, ensuring high standards of safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Job Description

As a General Assistant, your responsibilities will include cleaning, repairing, inspecting, and assisting in quality control. This role is vital for maintaining Omnia’s operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Required: Grade 12 with Maths
• Advantageous:

• Code 08 / Code B License
• Magazine Master Ticket
• Blasting Assistant Certificate (MQA)
• Stemming Loader

Experience

• Previous experience in blasting or a mining environment
• 2 years of blasting assistant experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct risk assessments with the Blaster before entering the workplace.
• Assist the Blaster in preparing the blast area according to the plan.
• Mark off the working area with prescribed barricades.
• Map holes and measure their depth to ensure proper drilling.
• Rectify any deviations by interacting with mine staff or contractors.
• Collect accessories for blasting assignments.
• Place detonators and boosters at the blast holes as per the blast plan.
• Prime holes by inserting detonators into boosters under the Blaster’s supervision.
