The primary responsibility of this role is to protect and secure the SARB’s facilities and resources. Successful candidates will conduct access control, patrolling, emergency drills, and administrative duties to ensure safety.

Key Responsibilities
As a Security Officer, you will:
- Access and Egress Control: Monitor entry and exit points to prevent unauthorised access.
- Guarding, Patrolling, and Escorting: Safeguard facilities by performing regular patrols and escort duties.
- Responding to Threats: Identify, respond to, and report security threats or emergencies promptly.
- Equipment Monitoring: Ensure optimal use and maintenance of security systems and equipment.
- Emergency Response: Perform evacuations and participate in emergency drills.
- Administrative Tasks: Write reports, complete occurrence logs, and maintain accurate records.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on functional knowledge and security practices.
Qualifications and Requirements
To qualify for this position, candidates must have:
- A Grade 12 certificate or equivalent NQF 4 qualification.
- A PSIRA Grade C qualification.
- A competency certificate for handling firearms (9mm pistol, semi-automatic rifle, and shotgun).
- 2–5 years of security experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, such as:
- National Key Points (NKP) Act
- Firearms Control Act
- Criminal Procedure Act
- High levels of medical, psychological, and physical fitness.
- Professionalism and discipline to handle long hours.
- Availability to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Additional Skills and Attributes
Candidates should demonstrate:
- Strong ability to follow instructions and adapt to changes.
- Effective writing and reporting skills.
- Decision-making capabilities with action-oriented behavior.
- High standards of ethics and values.
- Ability to cope with pressure and setbacks.
Preferred Experience
While not mandatory, the following would be advantageous:
- Completed NKP training.
- Additional PSIRA training.
- Physical and tactical security training experience.
