The University of Ibadan has officially declared Wednesday, 11th December 2024, as a lecture-free day to celebrate the much-anticipated Union Week.

This announcement follows the request made by the students’ union, which has been approved by the university management.

The lecture-free day is an opportunity for students to engage fully in the planned activities for Union Week, especially the highlight event—the Professor Omole Personality Lecture.

Details of the Professor Omole Personality Lecture

  • Date: Wednesday, 11th December 2024
  • Time: 10:00 AM
  • Venue: Alumni Hall, opposite Queens Hall.

Students are encouraged to attend this lecture, which promises to be insightful and inspiring.

The lecture will feature discussions on academic excellence, personal development, and leadership—topics that are crucial for university students aspiring to make meaningful contributions to society.

Union Week Activities

In addition to the Professor Omole Personality Lecture, the Union Week has several other activities lined up to foster community spirit, celebrate the union’s achievements, and engage students in various fun and educational programs. Below is a schedule of events:

  • 9:00 AM – Campus Clean-Up Campaign (Starting from the Union Building)
  • 11:00 AM – Health Talk and Free Medical Check-Up at the Health Centre
  • 2:00 PM – Inter-Faculty Sports Competition at the Main Field

Friday, 13th December 2024

  • 10:00 AM – Entrepreneurship Workshop at the Faculty of Social Sciences
  • 1:00 PM – Union Week Grand Finale and Cultural Day Celebration at Trenchard Hall
  • 5:00 PM – Music Concert featuring top artists at the University Pavilion.
